Description
Up for bid is a 1948 Willys CJ2A.  My name is Jon and I am the third owner of this Jeep.  This Willys is in stock condition and was fully restored back in 2000.  First off, the engine is a 134 L-Head (Go Devil) out of a Willys MB, (WWII engine), so it is the chain driven timing not the gear driven timing that would normally come in this year.  It puts out a whopping 60hp and 105flbs of torque.  The transmission is a 3 speed T90 which has been rebuild and is orignal.  The transfer case is a Spicer T18, also orignal and is rebuilt as well.  Both do not slip out of gear and are very smooth.  The 4x4 works like a dream in both high and low.  The front axle is the stock Dana 27 and the rear is a Dana 41 which is also stock.  They both have the stock 5.38 gears which is very low and will idel up a 45 degree hill in 4low without even pressing on the gas.  You can get out and walk next to it wile it works.  This Jeep will go anywhere.  If it snows where you live, just pop it into 4high and you'll be the one getting to work on time.  It has new OEM leaf spring all around so it sits at stock heighth.  The Jeep has been completly rewired very nicely and all gauges work as they should.  You will have to clean the connections since it has been sitting since i've been deployed.  It does have a after market heater which will make you sweat in the Jeep even when it's snowing out.  It was painted when it was restored in 2000 and beside a few nicks from riding light trails, looks just like new.  There is no rust on this Willys besides a few specs where a tooth bush would take it off the surface.  Like i said, it's been sitting for 5 months wile i've been gone.  The seats have all been redone and it has a brand new soft top with one rip the size of a dime on the drivers side.  It has the original 6.00x16 NDT tires with 75% left on them and a unused spare mounted on the side.  Now for the bad part.  Wile replacing the piston rings wile on mid tour leave, i bought new rod cap bolts since it is not good to use any bolt twice that requires a torque spec.  I must have gotten a bad bolt cus when all was done, and while the engine was running, the bolt snapped.  What the engine will need from the damage is a new connecting rod, new piston, new camshaft, new valves, and some machine work done on the block since it did crack during the problem.  I totaled the work and parts and your looking at about $500 dollars to fix the engine and have it up and running again.  It's a dream to drive and ran like a top before the problem.  I am in Afghanistan at the moment so my wife Stephanie will be handling the sale and will answer any question you might have.  If she doesn't know the answer, she will email it to me.  I am living just two meters from the pakistan board and we run our power off a generator so when i have a chance, i will email her back with an answer.  Lets just say being Infantry, it's very busy over here if you know what i mean but i'll try to write back.  The reason why i'm selling it is because it's top speed is 50mph so it's fine in town but i can't go on the freeway which is a problem with the family.  Also with gas prices the way that they are, i'm planing to buy a motorcycle when i get back to save on gas.  This Jeep will get 20mpg in town.  I am also deployed for 15 months and i really don't want to make payments and pay insurance when i'm not even driving it, plus for a vehical that old, i don't want it just sitting there for that long.  All around it's just not the right time for me to have such a history piece.  With a wife and two kids that need the extra money from the payments, it's just not a good time to own the Jeep.  Maybe when i'm older i'll buy it back from you.  This the 4th Jeep i've own, yeah i kinda have a little thing for old Jeeps, just ask my wife lol.  The price we are asking is what is left on the loan.  The bank has the title and when my wife receives payment from you, she will go down to the bank, pay the Jeep off and will then have the title.  All you have to do is come pick her up....the Jeep that is.  Happy bidding.
