Description
VICTOR TALKING MACHINE MAHOGANY VICTROLA VTLA An antique Victrola in good original condition should not be refinished, however much of the older Victrola’s that we see has gone through many years of overuse, even abuse or improper storage. Sometimes simply due to aging, the original finish has become so "alligatored" or so dark that the original beauty of the wood is no longer visible. We have been restoring Victrolas for over 22 years. We have sold our items to museums and historical societies.  Our process is very simple. The Victrola is completely taken apart.  All the old shellac or varnish is removed by hand.  A specially prepared varnish remover is used to insure to leave as much as the old patina as possible. Any repairs are performed at this time. After hand sanding, each piece is then stained to bring out the beauty of the natural wood grain of the wood. The stain and lacquer are specially formulated to replicate the original finish. Since we hand sand, the Victrola will have the age bumps, bruises and nicks. Please click here to visit before and after pictures of other restorations. We feel this process adds character and charm to the Victrola.   This auction is for a Victrola Floor Model VTLA, serial number 7571. This machine was built in 1908. This Victrola is being offered for those folks who enjoy original finish machines. This machine has all original parts, key , needle cup, reproducer and record albums. It is missing two small albums. The albums are in very good condition. The reproducer will need to be rebuilt. The motor is working but has not been tried with a record. It has some veneer chips on the top and is has some age bumps, bruises and nicks. The original finish has some alligator appearance. Please view all the pictures and email any questions. It measures 21" wide X 22" deep X 47" tall.   This machine is very heavy and is expensive to ship. We have used several shipper's in the past and will assist you in recommending one. The average shipping cost is between $200 to $350.00. This can be stored until you can pick it up.     NO PAYPAL   Payment can be made with check, money order, Mastercard or Visa. We have been doing furniture and victrola refinishing for almost 20 years.  We have the ability to perform all restoration needs from fabricating new parts to veneer replacement. The victrola is meticulously taken apart down to the cabinet. All the pieces then have the old shellac removed by hand. Any repairs are performed at this time. They are then hand sanded and stained to the original color.  The inside of the victrola lid is not touched in order to preserve the original Victor decal. Any motor work is preformed at this time. The victrola is then sprayed with new lacquer specially formulated  to replicate the original finish. This is a very time consuming process that takes several days to complete.  Certain images and/or photos used in this template are the copyrighted property of JupiterImages and are being used with permission under license.
