Description
jersstep Store RARE EX-LARGE BEAUTIFUL SLAG GLASS AND PIERCED BRASS FINISHED TABLE LAMP BY THE BRADLEY & HUBBARD MGT. CO. - CA.1920s!!! DESCRIPTION: Being offered for sale is this rare, top-of-the-line, exceptionally beautifull 10 sided slag glass lamp shade with pierced metal decoration with solid metal base. While the base has no markings, the gorgeous lamp shade does. It is marked on the inside rim with, "Bradley and Hubbard Mgt. Co.". This is likely the top-of-line lamp by this famous maker. The large lamp stands 22 inches tall with the shade measuring 17" across at the widest points. The whole lamp weighs a heavy 16 pounds. There are 10 glass side panels and 10 pie cut shaded panels on top. The slag glass has caramel color swirling though a white ground. The base of the lamp is 7 ½" wide and in an Art Nouveau stylized flora design. The shade as you can see has floral decoration on a very detailed trellis styled background over the 10 panels and at the very top of the shade is more trellis like decor. This fantastic lamp came from St. Mary of the Woods Academy Sisters of Providence of Terre Haute, Ohio. The Sister of Providence opened its doors in 1840 and in July 1841 the academy opened. They just had a huge sale of the some of the very best and unique items they have collected over the decades. Some of the best I have seen in a long time with most going for big dollars I assume they were just "cleaning out the basement & attic" or raising some money for the organization. The condition of the shade is very close to mint as you can see. One of the half moon decorative lattice work near the top is missing. Also just a little finish loss in a very few places that is very hard to see unless looking for. There is no other damage in the detailed trellis work, no cracks, chips or damage to the slag glass nor is there even one clip that holds the glass in place missing. The base is in very good condition and is not damaged. But the base has a rough finish that could be the texture or maybe from getting wet over time. The bottom of the base does have some surface rust that suggests being somewhere damp. But I covered it with soft as butter leather to protect your furniture. But if you desire, the leather can be easily removed and replaced with whatever you want like felt. The wiring is in excellent condition so all you need to do is plug it in after adding a light bulb and placed in that spot you've been looking and wanting something special to put there! All this makes this an exceptional and very desirable table lamp by a famous maker. Another great feature of this very pretty lamp is it will go with any décor from Victorian to modern at home or office! I am sure you'll want to put it in a high visible area so all can see and appreciate. Please check out the pictures and see for your self just how rare, large, breathtakingly beautiful designed and crafted lamp really is. While viewing the photos, please keep in mind its almost perfect condition, its quality, its famous maker, and its majestic appeal, making it a most desirable lamp. As a suggestion, this would be a fantastic treat for your self or perhaps a marvelous gift for someone special. Note: The base and shade will ship separating due to the frailty and large size of each piece as well as the need for extra packing material, all to help insure safe arrival.
