Description
PLATINUM RAKUCYOIn 1919 SYUBICHI NAKATA founded the pen company that would become Platinum Pen. Watching the success of Namiki with lacquered pens, in the 1930's Nakata organized a group of Maki-e artisans to produce fine Maki-e pens. The leading artist was Rosui who was regarded as one of the top Maki-e artists of his time. The styles Platinum produced were quite different from Namiki, using a great deal of Pearl inlay and shells. This wonderful piece depicting Rakucyo or Lovebirds is made up entirely of pearl inlay over black urushi.. The artist was GYOKUMEI and was produced between 1930 and 1935. This pen can be found in Andy Lambrou"s "Fountain Pens of the World" pg 379.The pen is in excellent condition with gold filled trim. There are no scratches, nicks, dents, or brassing. The filling system is eyedropper. The nib is 14K #5 Platinum.Shipping is FREE! After you place your bid, check out my other auctions!
