New COPPER ALEMBIC DISTILLER Essential Oils Liqueurs Start Price USD 400.00 Current Price USD 400.00 Time Left - Bid Count 2 Buy It Now Price USD 777.77 Reserve Price - Start Time Monday, September 01, 2008 End Time Monday, September 08, 2008 Location Southern NH See more about 'New COPPER ALEMBIC DISTILLER Essential Oils Liqueurs' Description       COPPER ALEMBIC DISTILLER Essential Oils and Aromatic Waters Made in Italy     This is a brand new, never used, lovely copper and glass distiller, in the original styrofoam and box.  This is a more professional model, not to be confused with the usual distillers being sold elsewhere.    This is a substantial distiller; heavy but not huge.  The box measures about 14x20x21 inches.  We opened the box to quote the descriptions and take pictures.  Note, the paper on the copper-topped base is there to protect the lovely copper; it comes off when you want it to.    The ALAMBICCUS ALAMBICCUS GAGGIA ALEMBIC still was finely crafted in Italy by skilled artisans.  It allows you to distill essential oils and aromatic waters (e.g. floral waters).   Essential oils are used in many ways; for example including aromatherapy, massage and medicinal therapy, for making perfumes and soaps, and as food and liqueur flavors.  My uncle, a connoisseur of fine liqueurs, used this same model of distiller to craft his own custom liqueurs.    This distiller is lovely by itself, as a decorative collector’s item.   If you do want to use it to distill essential oils and aromatic waters, there are some concise description pamphlets in the box:   Included is a pamphlet that describes the ALAMBICCUS ALAMBICCUS GAGGIA distiller and distillation process.  The information is written in English, French, and German.  Topics of this pamphlet include:   a.  A nice diagram that provides labels to the numbered parts of the distiller.   b. “How It Is Made” talks about the parts of this alembic (alambic, alambique).  This includes the copper boiler, copper dome and pipe, the Pyrex glassware column condenser, and thermometer, as well as other features.  "The boiler is heated not by a flame but by an automatic thermostatically controlled electric heating element."    c. “How To Assemble It”.   d. “How To Use It” defines essential oils and aromatic waters.   e. “Method of Preparation” gives “the method of distilling an aromatic herb”.   f.  “Specifications”.  Some are as follows: Power supply:  110 V 60 Hz.  This is on a note from Damark International, Inc., which apparently marketed this distiller (at least in the US).  It says that “The distiller uses 110 V 60 Hz (normal 110 V household current)”, and not Europe’s “220 V 50 HZ” (which would “damage the unit”). Heating power: 1200 Watts. Pumping power: 6 Watts. Still capacity: 1.25 litres. Independent cooling circuit with tank (capacity ca. 3 litres).
