Description
maxuta_id="011017" MESSAGE HOME TO PARENTS FROM SALYUT-7 COSMONAUT VOLKOV    Cosmonaut Alexander Volkov "space mail" collection The letter from A. Volkov (Soyuz T-3/Salyut-7) to his parents This is one of the earliest space letters of cosmonaut Alexander Volkov to his parents fron Salyut-7 space station. Dated in Sep 26, 1985 on Baikonur cosmodrome. The cover has the stamps of Baikonur and Salyut-7. The letter is written on the letterhead of radiogram. The cover has signatures of Volkov, Dzhanibekov, Vasyutin, Grechko and Savinykh. The cover is very shabby, Mr. Volkov found this letter in his parents appartment in Gorlovka city in Ukraine after their death. This letter seems to be often re-read and shown to the friends. This is very "warm" letter from son to parents. Mr. Volkov describes his first feelings and impressions onboard, writes about his timetable, weightlessness, extraordinary sunsets and sunrises etc... Quite regular "son's report", but from space. Close to the text translation: Hello, my dear Dad and Mom! I'm writing to you from the space orbit. My dream is realized. At least I feel what the space is. It's difficult to describe. Despite the fact that I though I could imagine all the process by the conversation with other cosmonauts and by reading a lot of books about space and cosmonautics, anyway I was impressed by uncommonness and all unearthly things which I meet here. I was impressed to begin with the launch, when powerful rocket brough me out of the terrestrial gravity, and to end with the weightlessness when you can fly in space like a bird, when your body does not weigh anything, and when there are no differences between ceiling and floor. Sky here is extraordinary - that's absolutely black during the day light. The colors of sunsets and sunrises are unearthly clean. 16 times per day I met sunrises and see of sunsets. I fly in space very fast, I turn around the Earth during 90 minutes. Today I flew above Donbass, but it was closed by the clouds, anyway I felt I flew above my home. I've got used here well, I was accustomed very quickly to different features. Now I walk on ceiling and on floor, but generally I fly - if I need to move somewhere. My appetite is well, sleep too. Days pass very fast because I always busy with something. Relaxation time is 2 hours in the evening only. During relaxation time we usually listen to the music, talk about something while drinking tea, or watch video. We will have the whole day for relaxation on Sunday. Tomorrow guys will fly to the Earth, they will deliver you the letter. I wish you all the good health. I've been having a tedious time and waiting for our meeting on the Earth. My kind greetings to Gena and Valya, and to Sharonov's and to all good friends too. Bue. I kiss you strongly. Yours, Sasha. Sep 24, 1985. Onboard "Salyut-7" space station. Comments to the text: Sasha - pet name for Alexander (Volkov); Donbass - Donetsk City region in Ukraine where Mr. Volkov was born. COA: Personally addressed certificate of authenticity from Mr. Volkov will be given to buyer according to wishes upon request. Happy buying! Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
