MERMOD FRERES Fat Cylinder OVERTURE Music Box   This auction is for a very nice MERMOD FRERES Antique Fat Cylinder music box that plays six tunes. This music box is one of TWO Fat Cylinder boxes fresh from a local home. They are both in very good condition. This music box is all original and has a great sound. It has not been used in a long time and will need a good cleaning and oiling. The stop /start lever does not work properly and the piece may need some very minor adjustments to have it work perfect.  The music box is fresh from a home and has not been tampered with. The case has a fine BURLED WOOD case and inlay work. The case will need some restoration to the veneer. Overall, its a very nice all original Music box. It once had a ZITHER attachment that you press down to alter the sound which is missing. The Cylinder and Comb are both in basically good shape.  The cylinder measures 13'' long. The case Measures 28'' long, 9'' high and 12'' deep. The box has a nice rich tone. The two lowest Bass teeth are missing and the tip at the highest note at the very end of the comb is also gone. Some of the pins on the cylinder will need to be straightened. This is a very good quality music box, well worth a restoration.  Please email me if you have any questions, thank you.
