Made from mahogany, it has a raised upper tier for inkbottles and pens while the tray below is for stationary etc. My feeling it that it dates from the early 1900s period. It has circular designed carved ends and straight lined geometric styled ink and pen top tier. The top tier in quite striking with parallel pen rests emphasised by the ebonised sections. There is no damage. The ebonised wood shows a little honest wear. The lower tray has some darker staining, from ink perhaps, however this looks attractive. The base is covered with baize to avoid scratching a desktop. Measures just over 11½ inches long, 9½ inches wide on lower tray. Measures just over 11½ inches long, 5½ inches wide on upper tray. Height is 4¼ inches. Each matching glass inkbottle has a silver plated collar and cut glass hinged top. The hinges are sound. The crystal clear cube body of the inkbottle has attractive facet cut edges, which catch the light beautifully.There is no damage to either bottle apart from a minute area of normal wear.
