Description
WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS AND COUNTRY     Large Museum Quality 1:147 Scale German Zeppelin LZ129 Hindenburg  An oversized model of an oversized craft. See its details: Engine pods, bridge, windows, markings, taut fabric stretched over frame. Over 600 glue points, completely handmade. Display in the air, tail markings included. Zeppelins are types of rigid airships pioneered by German Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin in the early 20th century, based in part on an earlier design by aviation pioneer David Schwarz. Due to the outstanding success of the Zeppelin design, the term zeppelin in casual use came to refer to all rigid dirigibles. Zeppelins were operated by the Deutsche Luftschiffahrts-AG (DELAG). DELAG, the first commercial airline, served scheduled flights before World War I. After the outbreak of the war, the German military made extensive use of Zeppelins as bombers and scouts. The German defeat halted the airship business temporarily, but under the guidance of Hugo Eckener, the successor of the deceased count, civilian zeppelins experienced a renaissance in the 1920s. They reached their zenith in the 1930s, when the airships LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin and LZ 129 Hindenburg operated regular transatlantic flights between Germany and both North and South America. Along with its sister-ship Graf Zeppelin II, the Hindenburg was the largest rigid aircraft ever built. During its second year of service, it went up in flames and was destroyed while landing at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in Manchester Township, New Jersey, U.S., on 6 May 1937. Thirty-six people died in the accident, which was widely reported by film, photography and radio media. The Hindenburg was named after the late Paul von Hindenburg (1847-1934), President of Germany (1925–1934). 65 Inches Long Length 65 in / 165 cm Width 14.25 in / 36 cm Height 13.5 in / 34 cm  This is a museum-quality model for the discriminating collector. In approximately 1:147 scale, true miniatures of early flying craft have never been offered in an upscale model such as this. This model was hand-made. It reflects the true character of the original from an earlier age and should be viewed in the light of its own historical background.
