Description
maxuta_id="011015" LETTER TO MIR COSM. VOLKOV FROM COSM. VIEHBOECK/AUSTRIA Cosmonaut Alexander Volkov "space mail" collection The letter to A. Volkov, S. Krikalev (Soyuz TM-13/Mir) from cosmonaut F. Viehboeck (Austria) This is the letter to cosmonauts Alexander Volkov and Sergey Krikalev (Soyuz TM-13/Mir) from cosmonaut F. Viehboeck (Austria). Mr. Viehboeck was the crew member of Soyuz TM-12 and met Volkov and Krikalev onboard MIR when 2 missions "crossed" by time (so, that was the joint flight). Then Mr. Viehboeck returned to the Earth onboard Soyuz TM-12 and sent the letter into space to his friends. The letter was sent from Austria (but probably in an extra cover because the applied one does not have Austrian stamps). The cover and the letter have the stamps of Mir and Star City. Also the cover has Russian postmark "Joint space flight USSR-Austria". This is very friendly letter in Russian (not native language for Mr. Viehboeck) with many mistakes and cosmonauts humor. It says about the business of Mr. Viehboeck at home after his flight (meetings, speeches etc.), home and children and about his last parcel to Volkov and Krikalev onboard Mir (he sent beer in space and asked the cosmonauts to take photo with it). Close to the text translation: Dear friends! How are you onboard? You will return soon. I wish you soft landing. I tried to send you coffee etc., but unfortunately beer appeared instead of coffee. But I think that is not too bad. Sasha! The photo with beer would be great. I have too much work, meetings etc. I'm not the frequent visitor at home, but my family is Ok anyway. The daughter has been growing up, and Vesna and Adrian too. Supposely, I will come to Moscow after your landing, and then I will be waiting for you here. All the best, Franz All the best and kind regards from Vesna. Comments to the text: The letter is in Russian with some mistakes. Cosmonauts like kidding about sending alcohol onboard. Vesna is Mr.Viehboeck wife. This word in Russian means "spring". COA: Personally addressed certificate of authenticity from Mr. Volkov will be given to buyer according to wishes upon request.
