Description
~HOUSE OF KALAKAUA~   FOR SALE: what now appears to be the most important discovery in all of Hawaiian history: 19th century documentation that a World Power (England, the U.S.'s closest ally) was in full support of Queen Lili'uokalani and The Kingdom of Hawai'i.   It comes in the form of a piece of Art. Research suggests it was hidden from U.S. President Grover Cleveland and The United States Government at the very-beginnings of The Overthrow. Stashed in a "whites only" bar just steps from the Palace doors. The "non-existience" of this Western allies support appears to have been key to the success of The Overthrow and for-more-than-a-century the cabinet remained Honolulu's most closely-guarded secret. Until now:   THE QUEEN LILI'UOKALANI'S  MUSIC CONSOLE.     Authorities have placed Her console among the finest works ever to have emerged from The English Arts & Crafts Movement of 1880-1910. Commissioned under an English-Scottish Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria and/or King Kalakaua, it is a previously unknown bold-banner document that puts its full support behind Lili'uokalani, as Queen. It is not vague. Circa. 1888, it pre-dates the House of Windsor, falling under the Royal Houses of Hanover and Kalakaua. Likely commissioned as a Gift of Succession or as a Gift of Ascension. And it appears to be rewriting history: prior to this discovery it was believed Victoria (d. 1901) had turned Her back on Lili'uokalani (d. 1917).  ~~~~~~ The summation of Aloha 'Oe (1878), the console displays Her Majesty's, "bird delighting to the beauty of the Maunawili rose blossom", making it the earliest-known international recognition and the very-first artistic interpretation of that most-famous song.   Logic dictates, and the research suggests, because of its ties to Buckingham Palace and because it bears the name of King Henry, it was hidden-away by The Overthrowers even before Blount arrived (1893). Adding to the cabinet's importance and supporting that it was Victoria Herself who commissioned it, is Its apparent century-long use, found with valuable old beer signs, all this time in the hands of The Overthrowers, as a covetous barroom "victory trophy", explaining its pristine condition and the 115 years of "good ol' boy" cult-like secrecy that seemingly surrounds it: there has been more than one attempt by local authorities to sweep the discovery of this royal artifact under the rug. WHY? Aside from the aforementioned scenario, what great secret could it hold?   ~~~~~~ The Queen was an incredibly gifted musician and a prolific songwriter. She composed many of Her nearly 200 melodies on and for guitar. Aloha 'Oe (composed on guitar) is still the most famous song ever written in the Hawaiian language. If not familiar with the melody we would suggest you listen to the version by Amy Hanaiali`i on YouTube.     The cabinet gives us a never-before-seen look at Her composition process. It has long been believed that Lili'uokalani changed tempos and keys, re-writing "OLD CHORUS SONGS" to create new melodies. The notations on the cabinet's interior would seem to confirm this theory to be true.   Further provenance is provided by Lili'uokalani's musical notations on the cabinet's interior (20+ words). And matching closest to Her 1890s handwriting style (see below).       When the cabinet was first discovered we were certain it belonged to the Princess Ka'iulani, also known as, "The Peacock Princess" and "The Rose of Ainahau". As you can see, the research lead us in a different direction. We are now certain it has no connections to Kaiulani. None! Except! we believe this console would have been at Washington Place in 1888, one year before the little Princess was exiled to England.     Any little girl would have been anamored by this music cabinet and this could well-be how Kaiulani acquired the "peacock" and "rose" titles. The Princess "Victoria" Ka'iulani-Cleghorn was 1/2 Scot and was to ascend the throne as "Queen Victoria". She would have inherited the console, bringing it full-circle: HRH QV to HRH QV. You can get a good view of how beautiful the console is by watching a TV News clip shortly after the discovery. Click hear to view:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2aIcFRwrYc&feature=related
