Wharf by Jessie Tarbox Beals. She was photographing in Boston for several years on either side of this date. Of course, it could have been printed at a later date. As you can see, it is signed in the negative C(opyright) Jessie Tarbox Beals. Below that, on the mount in pencil, is Old ? Wharf  Jessie Tarbox Beals. The print measures 3 1/4 by 2 1/2 inches, the full mount 8 by 4 1/2. Under magnification, you can see that the photo paper has some rag content. For scale, I have added a quarter to one of the photographs.There is a mild crease at the top left corner of the mount, not effecting the photograph. Please see the photographs, which can be enlarged and are part of the description. Beals (1870-1942) was the first published American photo-journalist. A larger print (8 3/4 by 6 3/4 inches) of this picture was sold at Swann's three years ago; they list the title as Old Wharf, Boston.
