Hancock 300 Locomotive Railroad Brass Steam Whistle Start Price USD 3,500.00 Current Price USD 3,500.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price USD 4,500.00 Reserve Price - Start Time Saturday, November 15, 2008 End Time Saturday, November 22, 2008 Location Tennessee See more about 'Hancock 300 Locomotive Railroad Brass Steam Whistle' Description What a rare find!  This is a Very Rare, All Original Antique HANCOCK INSPIRATOR COMPANY LOCOMOTIVE BRASS TRAIN STEAM WHISTLE!  This whistle is 6 inches in diameter and overall 26 inches tall, being just over 2 feet, so this is a very large steam whistle!  It has a 2 inch threaded female inlet.  It weighs around 55 pounds.  It is complete, with the valve built in and it works great!   I tested it on my air tank a while back on 120 pounds of air pressure and it sounded great!  This whistle makes a deep, melodious, pleasant tone.  Some people refer to these as the Steamboat Chime Whistle as they are deep sounding.  It reads THE HANCOCK INSPIRATOR CO. on one side of the valve and 300 on the other side cast in raised lettering.  The whistle itself is in excellent condition.  There is one small dent in the top of the bell above one of the chimes, which I'm sure could easily be pulled out.  I am leaving it as found.  You can see it in the photo below at the top of the chime.  It does not affect any operation of it at all.  The handle is original, but has an extension welded on the end for easier pull and playing.  I do not have any history on this one. This size steam whistle was also used on other applications such as:  factory, paddlewheel boat, ship, steam boat, tugboat, barge, sawmill, cotton compress, steam traction engine or tractor, or any application using a steam boiler or air source.  Shipping, handling, and insurance will be a flat $60.00 to any address in the USA.  E-mail me with any questions or comments you have.  I will not accept Paypal in this auction as their fees are too high.  Good luck bidders!  Place a Bid!
