Description
Just in time for Christmas! You are bidding on (1) G. Debrekht Russian hand carved wooden Masterpiece Santa limited edition figure. About this figure: His name is Nativity Santa and he is painted in an Old World style with soft, rustic tones. This handcarved Santa is nicely detailed to depict the Nativity scene. This is one of my favorites. So much detail and expression on this Santa. Mary & Joseph watch over Baby Jesus in his little manger of hay. The scene is complete with a pony (horse) and a sheep. On the back of the Santa's jacket there is lots of small details. This is a large santa and measures approx 15 tall and . He is a limited edition of only 100. Look at his low # of 7 on the wax seal. He is also hand numbered and signed on bottom of piece. He comes with original box and COA (certificate of authenticity) and waxed seal. He retails for $739.99 About G. Debrekht Russian Masterpiece: Creation begins with "aging", taking as long as 2 to 4 years. More then 60% of the fine linden wood, famous for its soft color and texture, is discarded due to splitting, molding or other deterioration occurring to natural wood over a period of time. No machinery is used, allowing for the material to "age" naturally in the open air. After selecting the "aged" wood it is time for the carver to do his magic, transforming simple pieces of timber into a beautiful masterpiece. The artist wood-carvers possess the highest level of skill and their own vision of the fine wood-sculpture, and specialize only in the wood carving process of the creation. This allows them to perfect their unmatched level of skills, using the tools and secrets of previous generations. Then the artist-painter shares his vision and talent, and makes the carving come to life. They carefully hand-paint the artwork, adjusting color intensity for individual pieces, depending on how dark or lights the wood is in each area. Meticulously applied layer upon layer of transparent watercolors will depict the beautiful scenes of children, angels, forest life, Santa's and other subjects. If you hold one of these beautiful creations in your hands and look closely, you will discover tremendous amount of details: undertones of colors on the Angel's dress or Santa's robe, the delicate feathers of Angel's wings and the calm expression of their faces. You will also notice several layers, under layers, hints of colors and finishes, applied skillfully one over the other. Artist will allow sufficient time for the layers to dry in between the application, making this process very time consuming. No two pieces are alike since all details are sculpted and hand-painted by individual artists. You can fully appreciate your piece only by studying it through the magnifying glass. Realize that the painting is so delicate that applying layer upon layer to deepen the color, demands precision achieved by combining not only many years of training, but also a rare talent. While marveling at the details, note that the sheerness of paint allows you to see the beauty of the natural wooden grain. And finally, blend of waxes are applied over the color, to shield painting. Many techniques used in the painting and decorating process of Masterpiece Collection designs, date back centuries. Combining "old ways" with new ideas results in exceptionally beautiful additions to your collection. Be assured that each piece is an original work of art that will warm the hearts of those around.
