This is a large Gropel & CIE Paris photogravure of the famed author of Les Miserables, the Hunchback of Notre Dame and other noted works. The painting has been framed in a plain wooden frame. The author's signature is at the lower right as "Victor Hugo", signed in very bold black quill pen. There is some water damage to the lower two inches of the photogravure, however the damage does not extend into the signature or the image area, as seen in the close-up of the signature above. The overall size of the frame is 17 by 21 inches. The photogravure measures 15 by 20 inches. The frame is in near good condition, with some wear to the edges and separation at the corners.
