Description
Snyder's Treasures is pleased to offer An Original and Authentic Frances William van Vreeland Signed Dutch Millers to Market Original Artwork This is the real deal! This sword is etched "H. E. HOWE" on one side and has the usual martial mounted and dismounted knights in armor and other embellishments in gilt on the other side of the blade This is a large watercolor on pressed board of Dutch millers preparing for a trip to market. There is a large windmill prominent in the background. It is rendered in the style typical of van Vreeland paintings of his early period (pre-1930s). He is listed as a Dutch artist in Davenport. He was educated at the Academie Julian and studied under the artists Beck, Nowottny and Bridgman. The painting has been period framed in a two-tone painted frame. The artist's signature is at the lower right as "F. Van Vreeland". There is some very slight damage to the surface of the painting, shown in this close-up detail image (seen as white speckles, and there is a run in the watercolor (the arrow points to where it starts, and it continues straight down to the bottom). You need to look carefully to see it. The overall size of the frame is 27 by 33-1/2 inches. The painting appears to be approximately 20-1/2 by 27 inches. The frame is in near very good condition, with some wear to the edges and corners. It is glass covered and not matted. Shipping and Handling is $33.00 for US destinations. I have been in the business over 40 years and most collectors on the East Coast know me. I have been a Militaria Show promoter most of that time. I am a fair and honorable person. Winning bidder pays stated shipping and handling charges. Unless otherwise stated, there is a minimum $2.00 charge for insurance. If you DON'T want insurance, PLEASE tell us.
