GUARANTEED GENUINE PRE-BAN ANTIQUE FINE 19TH CENTURY IVORY DAILY / WEEK POCKET PLANNER FOR XMAS GIFT Click to Enlarge Click to Enlarge Click to Enlarge Click to Enlarge Description: THIS IS GUARANTEED PRE-BAN ANTIQUE IVORY,OVER 100 YEARS OLD, CONFORMS WITH EBAYS RULES, AND IS EXEMPT FROM ALL REGULATIONS OR RESTRICTIONS! I WILL SHIP THIS ITEM ONLY TO THE USA! This is an Antique Ivory day planner / weekly calendar dating to the 19th Century. This was the 19th Century equivalent to "sticky notes"; a pad for reminding the owner of upcoming events. The writing would be done in pencil, which could easily be erased. This is a small piece, intended to fit into a Gentleman's pocket or a Ladies purse, and is about 3 1/2" long x 1 5/8" wide x 1/4" thick. It has a hinged German Silver clasp on the back that folds over the top and clicks securely into the front clasp at the top, locking all of the internal daily pages together. The front has a German silver shield escutcheon with the initials AGB engraved on the front. There is a German silver pin at the bottom with thin decorated washers that allow all 6 pages inside to rotate between the front and back covers, that are thicker than the inside daily pages. The inside slates are marked Monday through Saturday; and there is purposely no page for Sunday, the traditional day of rest. There are no cracks or chips on the day pages, but Monday has some light staining at the top. The back side has no cracks, and the front panel has a naturally occurring thin hairline crack at the top, and one tiny spot of discoloration. Overall, in excellent condition with nice patina. Perfect as a desk accessory, conversation piece, or display; and could also be used today. There is a similar piece shown in Lord's Encyclopedia of the Civil War.
