Style: 37B This egg was orgionally made for Varvara Kelkh, a wealthy Russian heiress, who commissioned seven Easter eggs which rivaled in importance and beauty those given to Empress Alexandra Fedorovna. In fact, over the years, the Kelkh Easter eggs have, on occassions, been identified and sold as Imperial eggs. This egg is composed of ovrlapping disks enameled transluccent blue over a guilloche ground with more than 1000 individually set Austrian crystals. The egg's surprise is a miniature elephant that, when opened revels its own surprise, a cobalt blue egg pendant. Height: 3 3/4" without stand.
