Description
This extremely old clock has a really nice patina. The clock was made by Benjamin Smith in Alfreton, England. Circa 1765-1803. Between these dates is when Benjamin Smith was a practicing clockmaker. The case is oak with mahogany bands on edges such as the body, the door and bottom. It also has mahogany pillars and trim around the bonnet door and under the finial. It has a very nice finish and a well preserved dial. The clock movement is a brass 30 hour, meaning it needs wound once a day. It has a continuous chain that you pull to wind. The weight and pendulum bob are cast Iron. I am a clock repairman by trade and I personally rebuilt the clock movement. It keeps perfect time. The hands are the original serpentine with a date wheel just below the center hand shaft. This clock strikes a bell every hour on the hour. The dimensions are 21 ½” Wide x 79 ½” High x 10” deep. This clock would look fantastic in an old house setting or could be cherished by someone who shares the same name or relatives who bare the nanme Smith. We will deliver and set up for free within 50 Miles
