Description
This is such a beautiful piece! The digital camera just does not pick up all the ornate detail. I have taken it to 2 jewelers, both say the diamonds are real and estimate 1/3k total in diamonds. The pearls are seed pearls. There are 3 larger diamonds in the middle of the crown and one on top in the star. There are 2 small diamonds (I call them chips) in the bend on each side of the crown (4 total). 10 seed pears are on the lower rim of the crown. The scepter goes through the crown, and the gavel hangs on a chain linked to the crown, it has it's own separate pin. The crown is 1 1/4" wide and the piece is 1 1/4 tall from the bottom of the scepter to the top of the star. The gavel is 1/2" long. The back is stamped 14k, 1944-1945 and has the former owners full name, including middle initial. This is in great shape, it shines and sparkles!   From the research I have done on this piece I believe it is from the Order of the Amaranth and it is a retired or past Royal Matron pin. Their used to be 3 tiers in the Masonic order for ladies, the Order of the Amaranth was the 3rd. At some point the Amaranth separated from the organization. I am not sure how or if the gavel was worn while the person held the office of Royal Matron, but I am told upon retirement, it is attached via a ring on the pin. My research on this comes from the internet, I am not an expert on this very secret organization. I understand the group is Christian. To me these appear to be Christian symbols. Regardless of the meaning of the original symbolism, what is important is what the symbol means to the wearer. This was purchased from the former owners estate, they were not interested in keeping it. I have researched the former owner and am happy to give what information I have to the next owner. I asked both jewelers for an idea of the value. The one said on a one of a kind piece like that the value could start at 5,000 and go up. The other jeweler said she couldn't estimate it. She said it would cost about 1000 to have one made similar but it would not be near the quality of workmanship. I hope to get a few more opinions and I will share them if they differ. Both of those jewelers did agree that the beauty and value of the workmanship was in the eye of the beholder.  No reserve on this auction. Email me with your questions or for more photos, use the ask seller a question up at the top right. Please check my store for more goodies! I seek out unique items, so be sure to check back often. S/h is $4.00, I accept paypal, US postal money order only at this time. Insurance is strongly suggested. I have a PO box for added security mailing payments. I will ship as soon as I can after payment is cleared, often the same day!  Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.
