Reindeer 17" ca 1910- Rare ' Description Absolutely Exquisite Early German Reindeer    He has real fur covering, glass eyes, original harness is 95 % complete and made of some type of heavy paper, possibly early oilcloth.  The harness is incomplete at the flank area and one side has a piece missing from the loop area (see pictures).   Antlers are a composition / resin material and are removable-there is some scuffing to the very edges on the antlers.  The saddle is green felt with decorative braiding and tassles.  The criss-cross on his face is also a decorative addition although different from the saddle.  He has two tiny tin buckles on both sides of his bridle and a red, white and blue browband.  One of the two rings where reins would be attached at his nose has dislodged since the pictures were taken.  I have included a close-up of this and will leave the repair to the buyer.  His legs are firm and hooves are also composition / resin with light scuffing.  He stands perfectly.  There are 27 brass tacks of varying sizes that hold his harness and bridle in place and show light tarnish. His features are lifelike including the rump (see pix).  He has no breaks or repairs (other than what I have mentioned) nor any part that is not original to the piece.  As to his place of origin, I am not certain, other than Germany, possibly Dresden?   I believe he was made between 1910 - 1920, before the candy container style was offered in the early 30's.  Measurements:  He stands 17 1/4 " high,  12 1/2" nose to rump, 9 1/4" to the withers and 4" at his widest point.   If you should have any questions, need more photos, etc., please email me before bidding.  I am not an expert in any area-the items I offer are used and not new and are not in "new" condition.  View pictures carefully and please ask questions.  Please note:  I will ship ONLY to CONFIRMED PAYPAL address!     * Merry Christmas * ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* 100 % Guarantee I offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee.  I am not an expert in any area.  I have described the item to the best of my ability. I will ship UPS Ground (no PO's), professionally packaged and fully insured with signature confirmation at my expense.  If for any reason you are not satisfied, he may be returned for money back minus shipping/ins costs.  I expect the return to be in "as sold" condition and within 3 days of your receipt of item.  Buyer will pay shipping and full insurance coverage for return via UPS ground.    If you have special requests regarding shipping, let me know and I will do my best to oblige.     Place a Bid!
