It is an Egyptian Funerary Cone, (the point is missing), of the high priest Amenhotep. Line 1 of the hieroglyphs call Amenhotep the mayor of Thinis. Line 2 says he is the conductor of festivals of Osiris. Line 3 claims him as the overseer of the Hem-priests (prophets) of Onuris. Line 4 calls Amenhotep the one praised by Amun-Ra.This cone has been attributed to Tomb TT A.19 which was completely ruined when Champollion and Rosellini visited it in 1828-1829. It is registered as no. 482 in Davies and Macadam's Corpus of Inscribed Egyptian Funerary Cones, Oxford 1957. The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston has on display other funerary cones mentioned in this book.Condition: It comes with a lot of ancient and modern history.
