EDISON OPERA CYLINDER PHONOGRAPH w WOOD HORN - AWESOME Start Price USD 9.99 Current Price USD 4,028.00 Time Left - Bid Count 28 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Monday, December 01, 2008 End Time Monday, December 08, 2008 Location Clovis, CA See more about 'EDISON OPERA CYLINDER PHONOGRAPH w WOOD HORN - AWESOME' Description This beautiful Edison OPERA was considered to be the peak of achievement in cylinder horn phonographs.   It has a stunning original mahogany finished case with easy flowing lines, rounded corners & rounded pillars with a gorgeous original EDISON trademark transfer.   The serial # 2329.    The OPERA has a nice double spring motor with direct drive & a traversing mandrel & automatic stop.    It comes with very fancy carrying handles & it has an early “L” reproducer.   The automatic stop arm, carrying handles & reproducer all have the original oxidized finish.  The bedplate is done in maroon with gold gilt lining & is about 75% + present.   There are a few tiny chips in the bedplate mostly near the gear cover (see photo) & a couple on the gear cover.   It has an original crank.   The case DOES NOT have a lid, but most of the time it is displayed without one.   It has a self supporting mahogany horn.   The horn is about 21 ½” across & is outstanding for being 95 years old & is still pretty tight.   One of the panels had a crack the entire length but was reglued long ago (see photo).   The support arm is a quality reproduction that is unpainted.   This is a very large & superior quality Edison phonograph that will bring joy & a superb quality of performance that will last for many, many years.
