Description
I happened to come across this interesting Bird House while rebuilding a summer house on the lake michigan beach front . The house i found it under was one of the first homes originaly built in this private gated location. Always handed down thru the same family they said the house was built around 1910. It looked to me like it was never reworked except for new roofs and exterior paint. Cleaning out old shutters screens ladders and wood nail kegs i came across this Bird House. The hanger wire was rusted at the middle hanging point. I assume It was made by an original family member. Hung outside till rust or the action of the wind there wore the wire in half and it fell to the ground. Somebody tossed it under the house -most likely to fix later, and never got around to it. I ran across it under there 80+ years later perserved in the dry sand during the clean out, and sat it aside as i thought it to be something special. and to an ANTIQUE BIRD HOUSE collector it might very well be. Stick Log construction. Front porch with house # on tin. Painted Tin Shutters. A early 19th Century Beach House for some song birds just there for the summer way back in the Day. Approx overall size-8in. to chimney top. 9in. long at roof. 6in. wide without porch. Free shipping!! Satisfaction garanteed to high bidder.
