EAGLE 37" NEW WOOD MODEL SHIP & DISPLAY CASE Start Price USD 699.00 Current Price USD 699.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Thursday, November 13, 2008 End Time Saturday, December 13, 2008 Location California See more about ' EAGLE 37" NEW WOOD MODEL SHIP & DISPLAY CASE' Description The model ship comes bolted into a beautiful cherry wood and glass display case.  The case is pictured in the last photo but has a different ship in it.  It's just to show you what the case looks like.   THIS IS AN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL NEW HANDCRAFTED MODEL OF THE FAMOUS U.S. COAST GUARD ACADEMY SHIP EAGLE.     THE SHIP IS 40" LONG X 12" WIDE X 26" HIGH AND HANDCRAFTED IN HARDWOOD FROM SCRATCH BY A MASTER CRAFTSMAN.  IT'S THEN PAINTED THE COLORS OF THE SHIP.   THE SHIP IS FULLY ASSEMBLED AND READY FOR DISPLAY WHEN YOU RECEIVE IT.   EAGLE - The Eagle is a three-masted sailing barque with 21,350 square feet of sail. The ship is home ported at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.  Eagle is the only active commissioned sailing vessel in the U.S. maritime services.  She travels the world serving as a training ship and good will ambassador.  She can be seen the summer of 2008 in tall ship events from Vancouver Canada to San Diego California.   The model is handcrafted from scratch by skilled craftsmen and it's built according to scale of the original ship, through original plans or pictures using plank on frame construction. The hull is joined by multi-pieces of dry thin wooden bar together. Inside the hull a special glue is used which helps thin wooden bars stay close to one another and not split, crack or twist when the weather changes. The ship is then painted.  The construction method is entirely by hand and it takes hundreds of man hours to finish by master artisans. THE MODEL SHIP IS NOT A TOY, PLEASE KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN.
