Description
Rare Dwight Eisenhower autograph error  NO RESERVE!!!!! Autograph -President Dwight D. Eisenhower letter to his niece after one year in office.   This is on White House Stationary.  RARE and UNIQUE The signature contains an error as Dwight Eisenhower signed as Uncle Dad instead of Uncle Dwight. This was probably after writing a letter to his son John. As meticulous as Dwight was it is rare to find a mistake in any of his writings.   ALSO included is a nail from George Washington's house in Mount Vernon given to Dwight's grand-neice on this trip. The trip was arrainged by Dwight. The nail is 2 9/16"long and 4 grams (and rusty)     Signature guaranteed to be Dwight Eisenhower’s 30-day return allowed if signature is not authentic.     Personal Letter and Vintage Photograph Both are Framed   Here is a two page letter from President Dwight D. Eisenhower to his Niece, Janis Eisenhower Causin.  Janis is the daughter of Dwight’s older brother Edgar. Dwight is sending Janis a letter regarding her family’s upcoming visit to Washington DC. Also includes the envelope it was mailed on February 4, 1954        You will get a signed letter from Janis’s daughter ( the girl in the picture) specific to this letter and nail stating the authenticity of the letter, nail, and signature to accompany the letter in the future.      You will also receive a photograph taken in 1954 of our family boarding the plane for the trip home and sent to Janis by Dwight.     “7 1/8” X 10 3/8” light pastel green stationary with Whiting Woven Linen watermark “The White House Washington” in blue at the top 2 faint fold marks   The letter reads   THE WHITE HOUSE                         WASHINGTON   February 4, 1954   Dear Janis:   I am quite sure that you will thoroughly enjoy your trip through New England and Eastern Canada.  It is a lovely section.   We expect to spend Easter week in Georgia, but I not that you are not planning on starting your trip until the following week.  Since Easter is on the 18th, I assume from your letter that you intend to leave Tacoma on the 25th.  From your description of your plans, this would put you into Washington some time, I should think, between May 5th and 8th.  If you should stay in Washington for a couple of days around that period, you would still have about a week to make a fairly leisurely trip back to Tacoma in your car.   We expect to be here at that time, although, of course, neither your Aunt Mamie nor I can guarantee that we can be free of inescapable engagements such as receptions, dinners and so on.  This, however, I know you would not expect..  In addition to this kind of engagement, your Aunt Mamie has her own series of tasks that include teas, luncheons, afternoon receptions and so on.  Like wise, I have my own operating schedule.   What I am trying to say is that delighted as we will be to have you stop and see us, the entertainment side of your visit will probably be confined largely to your visits to the scenic, architectural and political points of interest in the vicinity.  I ac, of course arrange for all of the transportation and other facilities of that sort.  With all of this, however, we will certainly get a chance to become better acquainted with your family and to see something of you during the time you can stay with us.  I wish that John and his family could be here at the same time, but I am afraid that is beyond the realm of possibility.  It would be interesting, thought to see how the generation of “second cousins” get along together.   I think, then, that because we cannot indulge in specific plans, that the best way is to have the understanding that you would reach here for a visit sometime around the 5th or 6th of May, and stay with us for a couple of days before you start your long journey back to Tacoma.  We shall certainly try to make your visit here an interesting one and will do our best to avoid complicating engagements that would tend to interfere with our seeing as much of you as possible.   With much love from us both,   Devotedly, Uncle Dad.   P.S. : When you leave Tacoma, could you send me a telegram predicting your probable arrival date in Washington?        I will ship this with extreme care.
