Description
For serious students and collectors or World War One memorabilia and history, it doesn't get any better than this DELUXE Keystone Stereo View set. This is the Keystone premium set of 300 views, from Sarajevo to the treaty of Versailles. Cased in a faux set of leatherbound books - one double volume housing the patented Keystone state of the art, all metal viewer and each of the other three double volumes containing 100 beautifully composed stereo views of The Great War. Every single view of the premium 300 set is present in this awesome collection - chronologically arranged from the early years of the war to the US entry to the end of the war and the Treaty of Versailles. It's all here; action shots, aerial photos, troops of the US, France, UK, Belgium, Morocco and Germany. After battle casualty scenes; artillery, aircraft, wrecked planes and tanks, gruesome shots, Zeppelins, aerial ballons, etc. There are famous generals at the front, troop formations and battle aftermath. All views are numbered as to the set placement - 300 being the most prolific that Keystone produced, all views are well annotated on the backs as well. I should probably wait until 2014, the 100th anniversary of the war, to sell this great set but having more pressing priorities, I'll take my chances now. The condition of the views is absolutely as new, I don't think they've been in the viewer more than once before I viewed them. No damage whatsoever - a virtual time capsule of the Great War! The faux book/boxes have minor scuffing from shelf wear but are intact, solid and fully capable of housing this set for another 100 years and more. I've seen individual stereo views of WW1 sell for $10.00 and up each - do the math, then throw in the magnificent presentation and the mint Keystone patented viewer - then add a premium for all views being present and in mint condition. Easily $3,000 and more - some individual aviation action views commanding $50 to $100 as well as action scenes, aerial views, etc. I've included as many photos as the listing allows - they were selected at random and anyone wishing to see a rather large file of all 66 photos I took, e mail me and I'll be happy to send them.
