Description
"Balniel" Ex "Clyde Valley" Model Ship Length 32 5/8" The Clyde Valley an iron built ship was constructed in 1886 in Belfast Ireland by McIlwaine & Lewis Co. It was owned by Wigan Coal and Iron Co. Ltd. The length was B.P. 174' 0" x 26' 0" x 13' 5" It weighed 223.12 tons. In 1919 it was owned by Major Richard John Cowser Bangor Co.from 1886 to Oct 1996. The Cyde Valley spent most of its' life hauling Cargo. The Clyde Valley model ship was constructed by Mr. Mark Boudreau in 2007 from a copy of the original plans. It comes in a Red Cedar display case with the identification black brass plate. ( The glass will be removed when it's shipped however it would be included if the buyer picks it up at Mark's house.) The hull is constructed of bass wood. Four coats of primer and two coats of a high quality paint were applied. All of the other parts were made by hand from wood, brass, wire and thread. Some parts were casted with a product called CR-900 High Strength Casting Resin. This is a very light weight resin especially designed for model making.
