Description
Gormully and Jeffrey American Champion. The adjustable step and ram handlebar would make it an 1888 model according to “Collecting and Restoring Antique Bicycles” by G. Donald Adams. Front wheel is marked 54” and the rear wheel is marked 17”. Serial number is 7314. The bike is missing a bearing race on one of the pedals. I don't think the crank pins are original and it and has some modern nuts and bolts, otherwise all parts are there. The dust shield is either a reproduction or the platers ground off all the patent marks. This bike was incorrectly restored by using chrome instead of nickel plating. It needs to be restored again. The paint is chipped in spots and the chrome is showing wear and has some surface rust. I have used chrome cleaner and it seems to be removing the surface rust. Additionally the front seat spring needs to be welded (See attached picture). This bike is in good shape and would be an easy restoration or you could ride this bike as is and restore it latter. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will pack the bike and deliver it to the shipper for you. Due to the size of this item it will have to be shipped freight. Shipping will be at a minimum $250. Will only ship in the United States. Will not ship to Alaska or Hawaii. Local pick up available. I have used Craters & Freighters (www.cratersandfreighters.com) to ship bikes before with positive results. Shipping cost will be determined after the auction. Buyer will pay only actual shipping costs. Please e-mail me if you would like additional pictures sent to you.
