But, many of today's popular artists have one man to thank for the basis of style that have given their career notice - Arthur Adams. Few fans or artists, for that matter, can help but admire his highly illustrative and fun style. Plus his wonderful story-telling, brought to life with each and every rendering is only achieved by a rarefied pool of master craftsmen. Is there any other reason he remains a fan favorite? All that and a hell of a nice guy too! This is probably the most spectacular offering ever. A goodly amount of Arthur's fans have followed him since his fame was established working on the Uncanny X-Men back in the 80's. I can't even begin to tell you how many people keep asking me if any of that artwork is still available. It isn't really as its all buried deep in collections. Its only the multipanel page that pops up now and then for the masses. So, its rare that a vintage single image piece comes up for sale let alone one of exceeding quality. Well, its all been answered here. This piece is the original art to the X-Men poster that Arthur drew in 1987 for Marvel Press. Do not mistake this for anything else. One more thing, before you bid make very sure you read the background and shipping caveats below. I won't be sympathetic to complaints after the auction is over. OK....ready, set, bid! Fog City is the source for great comic art! Some background:This poster was penciled and inked by Arthur Adams. The artwork is in very good condition considering its age (1987) drawn on heavy board measuring a huge 27"x39"! To give you an idea of what that means, Colossus is about 18" tall. Arthur has signed and dated the piece on the bottom right. Because of its age and size there is a bit of damage. A fair amount of the ends of the board are bent and/or frayed. There is a slight brown age stain above Rogue as well as there being a tan age band below Rouge running horizontally through the center. Despite all that, though, the artwork itself is in excellent condition. Errata and Title are paste on as is the image of Angel. It would appear that Marvel requested the addition of Angel after the piece was drawn. However, the original pen and ink original from which the stat was made is included as the second piece in the auction. No other private scans will be provided other than what you see here. Artwork will be shipped encased in a large mylar. Please read carefully:Winning bidder to pay US Priority Mail shipping, registered mail service. This service only covers up to $25,000 in insurance. However, because of the nature of this piece no refunds will be given. We can ship Fedex or UPS but there will be no insurance available. We're willing to be a bit flexible on shipping since the artwork is so huge.
