First card - Top - "The first Northern Pacific Railway train to cross the Missouri River. Crossed on the ice and was photographed by Frank Jay Haynes in March 1879, a little more than a year before he first photographed in Yellowstone Park." Bottom - "Bull freight teams, Black Hills, Dakota Territory in 1877 when travel was slow, and travelers carried firearms for hunting, and for encounters with bandits and Indians. Photograph by Frank Jay Haynes." Second card - Top - "Four-horse stagecoaches, Excelsior geyser overflow and Twin Buttes, photographed in 1895, by Frank Jay Haynes in his twelfth year as photographic concessioner in the Park. The speed of travel by stage was 6 miles per hour." Bottom - "Main street, Deadwood, Dakota Territory photographed by Frank Jay Haynes in 1877 with a two-lens stereoscopic camera - the type with which the first three-dimension pictures in America were taken."
