Description
1947 Original Photograph from the famous Latin Quarter in New York City; celebrating my parents 2nd wedding anniversary. Salvatore “Tarto” Sollazzo was called the fixer for paying City College basketball players to fix games based on the points spread. My dad is the first gentlemen on the left and my Uncle Tarto is the last gentlemen on the left and next to him is his girl friend with the white turban style hat. Next to my dad is my mom and on the right, the first lady is my aunt, my mother’s sister. I have had this photo all my life and I only found out about my uncle’s escapades about 10 years ago. Check out U Tube and watch the History of Gambling part 4 of 5 and about half way though you will see Tarto Sollazzo. At end of sale the photograph may be picked up in Netcong, New Jersey. The photo will not be delivered. Payment must be made within 48 hours and by cashier check only. This is truly a piece of sports history, especially college basketball. ANNALS OF CRIME about Salvatore Sollazzo, a jewelry manufacturer, gambler, tax-evader, briber of basketball players and blackmarket dealer in gold. It has been estimated that 50 million dollars worth of gold was illegally going abroad each year from 1946 to 1950. Those involved were for the most part jewelers…
