Description
THIS IS NOT A COLLECTION!!! At an estate sale laid an old stack of books in an attic off in a corner where dust had been its best friend for decades .my wife whom is a book lover stumbled upon these so we purchased the lot. after arriving home the books laid to rest for a week or so before we opened them and actually peeked inside of one named D'HYDRODYNAM DE BUSSOT NOT (BOUSSOT) VOLUME 2 a French book from what I can tell. to find what you see in the pictures . Treasury warrants dating before after and during the civil war we got out the rubber gloves and started to place them aside one by one to see what they were ''I have never seen one''. I decided to do a little research on a few made payable to J.P DUMAS , BEN KENRICKS,(SAM) SAMUAL J STEWART. http://books.google.com/books?id=x907AAAAIAAJ&pg=PA180&lpg=PA180&dq=SAMUEL+J+STEWART&source=web&ots=9wtvdz6gYu&sig=dsKsvGLVJnlhxJDbiYD87FBxR-Y&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=1&ct=result AND many others. Chills went down my back as a sit staring at the computer screen at the ominous picture of a man who had lived 100+ years before me at amazement almost freakishly. I jumped out of the chair to show my wife she also just was glazing the same way I was..at a pioneer of country that is now a landscape of city more than likeley.also one made out to Lamar County june 4th 1863 20 dollars us for millitary services. after more research we learned that the great great grandfather of the man from the estate sale was in the civil war. (Through friends) they had no living relatives. as I did more research the more interesting these warrants became I talked to several dealers and learned the lingo uncut un-circulated e.t.c. These appear to not be used or do not have the big X through them these were put in a book and forgotten about for 140+ years I scanned a few of these to let you guys know what you are looking at .the names are very very clear I don’t really know allot about them but I do know this find belongs in the hands of a museum of some kind. At this time I called several museums most with no callback. however I did talk to one at George bush museum (Mary). Who told me these did need to be on display somewhere not broken up. The wife and I agreed that this is NOT A collection and needs to be part of a museum. or put on display .it would be a nice addition to any museum display and/or history display What’s in the find? Approximately 90 bills 4 of them are from Tennessee exchange bank 2 dollar bill , three 1 dollar bills 3 coins fort miles post exchange 1 peso marked fort miils <---- 20 centavos fort mills and 5 centavos fort mills. The rest are treasury warrants from every walk of life that I have seen some are in very good condition some in good condition some in fair some ok some poor about 12 of them I would consider in bad shape. But still (cool looking) readable. Some are printed on both sides some are just single I have included a random scan of 3 of the warrants. In no way am I a collector or professional of money, artifacts, or early american history but what I do know is that this collection needs to be ON DISPLAY. I will start the bidding low with no reserve please if you have any questions you can contact me Alan at 770-771-2398 I will try to answer any question to the best of my knowledge... WHAT YOU ARE GETTING IS A PIECE OF HISTORY THATS BEEN UN-TOUCHED FOR OVER 100 YEARS THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK
